Thursday March 22, 2007

Take 15 – 20 minutes to complete one of these exercises.

1. Think of a character in a favorite novel or short story. Write down what you think made that character memorable. Now turn to the character you are currently working on (or thinking about working on). Write down what really resonates with you about that character. Using the two lists compose a free write.

2."The world had passed me by and somehow I didn't notice it until that morning when I looked into the mirror and saw.." Let this sentence serve as a jumping off point to your writing.

3. Write from the point of view of one of the following: 1.) A lost child 2.) A person who is drowning 3.) A hostage.
